Cake Title
White Birch Wedding Cake
Cake Story
My 1st ever cake order was for the Robert's wedding! I made some cute Mickey Mouse cupcakes as a gift for my friend's little boy for his birthday party, and the next thing I knew, they were asking me to make their wedding cake! Many orders poured in over the coming months as word of mouth spread, I grew both excited and nervous for the wedding. I loved working with the happy couple as they loved my flavors and gave me creative freedom on the design. The bride has been a close family friend for years, and she gave me some ideas on what they were hoping for. I made this classic white wedding cake from scratch with american buttercream. I carved many imperfections into the cake and painted in their creases with a mixture made from vanilla extract and food coloring to represent the natural bark on a white birch tree. I made sure to include a heart with the couple's initials carved into the front of the cake. My absolute favorite part of this cake was during the cake cutting ceremony. The happy couple called their son to join them as they cut the cake. They each cut their small traditional slice and on the count of 3 they knelt down and smashed the cake into the little boys face. His face was already lit up as he dawned his usual happy smile but now he was completley aglow and giggling. Tears of happiness could be seen sparkling around the room. Cake can bring so many smiles and happy memories no matter the occasion.
Your Icing Smiles Story
I have been working on the administrative team for Icing Smiles for more than 5 years. As a stay at home mom of 3 I wanted something to work on for me that gave me modivation and goals to strive for. I learned about Icing Smiles when I heard a baker on a show talking about the organization. I found their website and put in an application to be a blog writer. I was contacted and asked to write for the events team instead. I worked on emails, social media posts, and started creating graphics. Now, I manage all the social media channels and work on writing and creating graphics for campaigns. I love working with the Icing Smiles team, getting to know all the wonderful sugar angels, and learning about all of the amazing families served by Icing Smiles. I often think of the way I have seen cake bring smiles throughout my own life and it reminds me of all the families who have been blessed with an Icing Smiles cake. These cakes provide an escape from the medical struggles these families face and provide happy memories during otherwise difficult times. I am so happy to be a part of such an amazing organization! It is more than just a cake!
