Cake Title
Mater Cake
Cake Story
I was called to Duty to do a Mater cake for a sick boy who loved the movie Cars. I was inspired by the story of the boy and his battle with his sickness and wanted to make the best cake ever with all thing edible. The cake took me a few days to make, sculpt and then to airbrush. I loved that I got to push myself and used black licorice for the pulley in the back of the truck. I loved that the most. As I finished the cake, I made a plaque and airbrushed his name and happy birthday. I put it in the refrigerator and as I photographed every angle possible I went to bed with a sense of accomplishment. I spoke to the mother and we agreed meeting at a half way point to deliver the cake. I assured her that I had all the proper mats and non skids and all I needed was a cleaned back truck. When I got to the meeting place we both texted each other and she got the first glimpse of the cake. She gasped and said can I just hug you? I was so taken aback I said of course. This cake meant a lot and she took it home and her son was over the moon happy and when they posted the story to Facebook they told me it was the best Mater cake ever! My heart was filled and I was so glad I helped a child’s birthday be unforgettable and celebrated with a cake just for him. We all need to feel special and that is what Icing Smiles does.
Your Icing Smiles Story
I did 3 cakes over the years and each one was amazing. When my Facebook memories come up I always smile and thank God I was placed in the lives of 3 children that challenged me to be a better baker and a better person.
