Cat's Story (150 words)We first saw Ella on the back porch during the coldest week of the winter of 2024. We had a heated water bowl and food for the feral colony out here, and she was cold, thirsty and hungry. I followed her paw prints in the snow one day and she was living in a groundhog hole. We trapped her and spayed, vaccinated, and tested her, then let her loose. When she confined to hang around and began rubbing against my legs we brought her inside to socialize her and eventually find her a home. We are no spring chickens and don’t want her outliving us! Anyway, she is still a bit shy but very affectionate in her way, sitting right next to me with a paw on my leg, chattering to me in the morning to play, playing with my husband’s big foot. She’s a real sweetheart and I’m happy she’s not still living in a groundhog hole!
