Pet's Name
Ringo Starr
Pet's Story
Ringo was tossed over the fence at the Field of Dreams in October 2013. I was working there at the time & had stopped to visit when he was presented to me for introduction. He was named Velcro for good reason. When snuggled, he melded his body to you & sweetly resisted being detached. When it was time to leave, I could just hear my heart rip when I pulled him from where he snuggled against me. This tiny boy just radiated pure joy. I requested permission to "foster" him knowing full well he would never leave my side. I just needed to give his super powers time to win over my husband. I immediately named him "Ringo" Starr because Ringo sounded similar to Velcro & it fit the theme of our farm, Rockin' Alpaca Suri Ranch. Initially, he was terrified of car rides, but I continued to bring him along at every tiny opportunity. Soon, he realized rides did not mean he would be tossed away again. He went everywhere with me & continues to do so. We go shopping together. We travel together (NC, SC, VA to VT so far). We kayak together. Daily, he escorted me to the hospital and rehab center in Lynchburg to visit my husband during his illness. During these visits, we would visit the other patients & staff. To see the change in each of those patients was astounding. Yes, Ringo has super powers: he emits pure joy and unconditional love. To think...someone threw this treasure away. Thank you SPCA for allowing me the honor of adopting this amazing super hero.
As Top Dog or Cat-in-Chief, my pet would
Ringo brought a huge slice of sunshine to so many patients when we visited the hospital and rehab center, we registered him as a service/emotional support dog. We hope to find a local facility that encourages animal visits for residents and/or patients. Meanwhile, Ringo will continue to be my escort in all of my travels so he can continue to give out free kisses and be ecstatically happy to meet new friends...2 or four legged. He has yet to meet a stranger. His personality is wonderfully uplifting , and he can bring a smile to the most stoic of faces. It's a gift that comes with much responsibility which he graciously embraces. He truly is a four-legged super hero and my PFF (puppy friend forever)!! Love this little dude with a HUGE heart.
