Pet's Story"Come feel his ears!" That's how it all started. When I looked over my shoulder as I was passing by, this great big floof was leaning up against the kennel door with the softest brown, soulful pools gazing back at me, causing me to pause and inevitably come to a halt. His name was "Duck", a slight variation from his original name, "Adak" and when I was told why he was brought to JAR my heart wept for him and his previous family. I love dogs, but I was never a "dog person", however something about his calm demeanor drew me in and yes, I did eventually feel those soft velveteen ears. He gave me a gentle lick on my arm, so I told him he was a good boy and he told me that I mattered. I lived in a small condo with my cat, JoJo, at the time, so I told myself I couldn’t get attached to this gentle giant, but somehow, we ended up at Pt. Louisa one day peering out of my windshield overlooking the dazzling sun kissed waters. Heel to paw, we took off and with each step, I fell for him even more. When he got neutered, I spent the night with him at JAR. I comforted him and he bruised me with his busted cone, but before long, morning came. We had survived the hard floors and his oddly endearing sleep-barking. The condo was fine for just me and JoJo, but Falkor deserved something better, so I purchased a home for the three of us. He now snoozes by the campfire, lulled by the crackle and pop of the logs and me telling him, "You're my bestest boy, Falkor. I love you!” Falkor: "Mlemmm!"
