Pet's Name
Ariel
Pet's Story
In 2012, at three years old and no longer useful for breeding, Ariel was left at a Tennessee shelter where she was quickly put on a euthanasia list due to local town laws restricting any dogs with pit bull in them. With several health problems, including heart worm and distemper, Ariel was rescued and brought to New York City to recover and hopefully find her forever family. Luck was not on Ariel's side as she waited year after year, living in a shelter kennel. In 2016, Ariel's mom, who was in no way shape or form looking to adopt a dog at 22 years old and still in graduate school, saw a picture of Ariel on Instagram, and fell in love immediately. They say "when you know, you know" and she knew. Ariel found her home that summer. The following summer her mom, in true millennial fashion, bought Ariel a house with a yard. Despite originally being an "only dog" due to fear-based aggression, after a few years Ariel was ready to start fostering other dogs and she welcomed home some permeant pet siblings too. Ariel also helped lock down a dog-dad and has been incredible with her newer tiny human siblings. She has been the greatest source of joy, light, and laughter in our lives. While the years of adventure and companionship are winding down quickly for our sweet Ariel, Ariel remains the most loving and affectionate dog. Our time with her now is short, but her love will last forever.
