The Story Behind My AmericaMy America is the people who serve our communities and take care of other people without thought. From the teachers, police officers, firefighters, linemen or red-cross volunteers who are always there and step up to another level when called. This is one of my former fire departments, DHFD. A station who in the last few days made national news for rescuing a man who was trapped in his bed when a tree fell on him, has sent crews to battle NC wildfires, and has since deployed a crew to support Carteret County in Eastern NC following Hurricane Florence. My America is being there for the children, the people, the community, even when the reward or prestige doesn't quite match the work provided
