What makes your nominee a superstar? Examples can include what makes them special, how they embrace what makes them unique, and what they do to inspire and empower the communityIris has been an educator for over two decades, which already qualifies her as a superstar! Coach Iris is a leader, connector, and inspirer. She is encouraging, dedicated and passionate about improving the lives of young people. Coach Iris is definitely our GOTR superstar. We consider her school to be the shining example, and that is absolutely because of the passion and care she brings to everything she does!

How has your nominee engaged with Girls on the Run OR how have they inspired girls to be joyful, healthy and confident? Coach Iris has led the Heart & Sole (middle school version of GOTR) at McMurray Middle since 2016! She has shared stories about the impact the program has made on nearly 100 girls that have participated at her school. These success stories would not be possible without her! She has secured her own team sponsors to allow her girls to participate in the program. She didn't let language be a barrier for girls to participate. McMurray actually delivers the program in English and Spanish! Iris makes sure all her girls have proper footwear for running. Her school is the only school that gets the entire school involved in GOTR, and I believe that is because of how she has passionately communicated the importance of the program. McMurray's principal takes the girls to a carb-heavy dinner the night before the 5K, other school staff serve as the girls' 5K Running Buddies, and McMurray always has matching team outfits for the girls to feel unified and fabulous at the 5K. Coach Iris leads an incredible program that fulfils the GOTR mission!
