Please note that by submitting your pet into this contest you acknowledge consent for the Santa Fe New Mexican to publish your pet's name, photo and owner's name online and in print.   

All fees are non-refundable.   

HOW DOES IT WORK? 

Get your cameras out and get ready to snap your pet pal's best picture! (Close-ups of your pet are best.) 

Enter your pet in the Santa Fe New Mexican2026 Pet Calendar event starting Sunday, July 13. The entry fee is $30* and the entry deadline is 11:59 pm Sunday, August 10. 

All pets are welcome! One entry per pet works best!

All entrants will be revealed in the Santa Fe New Mexican. 

Round 1 voting begins on Friday, August 15. Round 1 votes are $1 per vote with a $5 minimum. Voting tally updates will be printed weekly in each Friday's paper and repeated in the following Sunday's paper. The Round 1 voting period will end at 11:59 pm on Sunday, Sept. 7. 

The exciting race to the finish continues as the top 25 vote-getters will then enter Round 2, beginning on Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 28. Votes in this round are $2 each with a $10 minimum. Please note that votes from Round 1 are not carried over - all the contestants begin Round 2 with zero votes. 

The top 25 will receive a pet photography session by Jane Phillips Photography and their professional images will be revealed when the 2026 Pet Calendar publishes**. Make sure to get your copy inside your Santa Fe New Mexican on Sunday, October 26. Additional copies are available and can be reserved for $5 each.  

The top vote-getter will be featured on the calendar's cover with the other top 12 winners highlighting a specific month in the calendar.  

A percentage of the voting proceeds will be donated to this year's beneficiaries: Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Española Humane.
