Featuring Platinum by Matilda Jane and Livie & Luca!

This is our second photography contest to benefit the Mighty Acorn Foundation! 

The Mighty Acorn Foundation was created by Denise DeMarchis, the founder of Matilda Jane Clothing, and her husband David in 2013.  The Mighty Acorn Foundation's mission is to help rescue children living in unimaginable conditions.  Their primary focus right now is the children of the Kipsongo Slums in Kitale, Kenya.  

Denise and David first visited Kitale in November of 2012.  They were so moved by what they saw there, they decided to build a home where these children could receive three meals a day, clean water, clothing, healthcare, an education, and most importantly, hope and love.  MAF accomplishes this by connecting each child with a sponsor.  

The sponsorship fees that sponsors pay for their child are used for that particular child alone.  When MAF started in 2013, there were less than 100 children sponsored.  Today, MAF raises funds and organizes sponsors for more than 200 children!

Sadly, Denise passed away on June 23rd, 2015.  As much as she is missed by everyone involved with MAF, her husband David and her long-time friend, Denise Walsh, are soldiering on and continuing to grow the foundation that was so close to her heart.
