Rules

We invite you to join the fun by participating in this special 2020 Halloween Costume Pet Photo contest, which helps pets in need. The contest winners will be determined by public online voting. 100 percent of proceeds benefit shelter dogs in the Sacramento region.

Overall

  1. The contest is open to everyone. 
  2. Photos may be taken from any place or time, but the subject must be your pets. Other animals may be in the photo. Sorry, no humans allowed in the photo unless they cannot be recognized. 
  3. Entry fee will count towards the total votes.
  4. Forward your pet’s photo page to your friends and family, and then ask them to donate to vote for your pet! Use the sharing buttons that appear on your photo pages.
  5. Please do not use any profanity, foul language, or offensive gestures; any inclusion will immediately disqualify you.
  6. We reserve the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
  7. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. 

Submitting Photos

  1. All photos must be original work, taken by the entrants. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains, and the photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person. *Unless, of course, you decide to enter your favorite photo of an adoptable dog from our website. 
  2. You can submit as many entries as you want, provided you pay the $10 entry fee for each photo. 
  3. Submit a clear image.
  4. Under no circumstances will entrants’ full name, address, email address, or other identifying information be shared, sold or exchanged.
  5. You can submit images from October 10, 2020 8:00 am to November 6, 2020 10:00 pm PDT.
  6. Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.

Voting

  1. The donation required to vote is $1 per vote to support SSPA. 
  2. All voters must purchase a minimum of 5 votes for a $5 donation. (You can buy as many votes as you want in increments of $5.) Those votes may then be cast for any photo entered in the contest in one vote increments. Voters do not have to use all their votes at the time of donation; you can store votes in your account to use at a later time.
  3. Yes, you can vote for your own pet’s photos.
  4. You can vote from October 10, 2020 8:00 am to November 6, 2020 10:00 pm PDT.
  5. Donations are non-refundable and tax deductible.

The Winners

  1. Three winners will be selected based on the total number of votes received. (Grand prize and two runner ups.)
  2. If there is a tie, the SSPA Fundraising Committee and Board of Directors will vote for the winner.
  3. Winners will be announced online at https://saccountydogs.com and associated Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter social media pages on November 7, 2020. Winners will also be contacted by email.
  4. If the winner cannot be contacted within 5 business days, the SSPA Fundraising Committee and Board of Directors may select an alternate winner.

  1. SSPA may use the entry, name, photograph, likeness, and/or prize information for promotional purposes in commerce and in all media without time limitation and without further compensation, except where prohibited.’
