Your ProfileMy name is Trent Jeffrey Smith and I am currently a freshman at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. I have had an interest in art since I was approximately 18 months old (crazy, I know) and I am now an Art major at my college. I am entering this contest because (i'll be honest here) my tuition is not cheap, and neither are the supplies required for my classes (I spent over $400 dollars in the first week) and the money from 1st, 2nd or even 3rd place would help a great deal, so I thought I might as well give it a try.

The Story Behind Your PaintingThis is my second entry, thanks to the extended deadline. For this entry, I decided to use graphite. The goal of this drawing is to symbolize patriotism toward America in the best quality of realism that was possible from me. The simplest way that I saw of achieving this goal was to draw the symbol of freedom in our country: the Bald Eagle. This proved to be more difficult than anticipated, and proved quite a challenge in the category of realism. Nevertheless, I am highly satisfied with the final result. Hope you like it!
