Your ProfileI am a proud member of the Manuela Ballicu "Bella" team. Manuela, our mentor, experienced cancer battles firsthand with her best friend and then her daughter. But, with a person like Manuela, hardships only lead to greater determination. In her case, a fierce passion to use her artistic talent to help others - “the people fighting the big battle, the ladies I now call my friends, the Bellas." Manuela passionately believes that art can heal, that as a therapeutic activity it can bring joy, relaxation, serenity, freedom and a sense of normality to those who have partly lost it in the biggest battle they have ever faced. Manuela’s guidance as our art mentor gives us time to bond as a team. When together and painting, we are distracted from our routine thoughts and focus on creating magical, healing art. “Manuela, you have enriched my life.” “My Dearest Manuela, your generous and joyful spirit continues to amaze and energize me.” We are the Bellas, fighting the big fight, so fortunate to have Manuela fighting with us. We are proud to enter this contest and be able to help others.

The Story Behind Your PaintingLife is full of fireworks. The Korean War took my father from me before I even met him. Sometimes I have a hard time being proud of the things our leaders choose to do especially when it means young men and women will be put in harms way. However, I am ALWAYS proud of the people that choose to give themselves to a cause greater than themselves. We need to tend to the wounds they carry in every way possible.
