The Story Behind Your Painting
The Flag has flown over four generations of the Parks Family. My daughter Amylouise (Parks) Perry is 100% disabled as a Special Forces Trauma Flight Nurse. She was injured in the war when an IED came in killing most of her Unit of 20. She earned the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star for her service under fire and for trying to save troops even while she was wounded. Captain Amylouise (Parks) Perry suffers every day from her injuries. I am 100% disabled from the Vietnam era which was never declared a War. I Painted the American Flag in the style of Maxfield Parish to commemorate the service of my daughter Amylouise and my son who is a Lt. Commander in the Navy, who has served around the world including Guantanamo, Cuba. He has served as a Medical/Dental Officer on the USS Kearsarge, a Wasp class amphibious assault ship. He now commands a unit at Saratoga Springs in upstate NY. My Dad served in Korea, and my grandfather in the World War II. He was shot 14 times. Now you can understand what the American Flag means to my family!
